Loadshedding regulations activated

Load Shedding Regulations

While the power utilities issues are out of our control, we understand that it is often hard to for teams to find solutions to the issue. We have put together the following regulations in an effort to assist teams, while still keeping teams accountable for their booking process and to ensure teams use their reserves when needed. We’ve put together a guide so teams can better manage the process, as well as regulations for the unfortunate situation where a match cannot continue, through no lack of effort on the team’s behalf.

  • Guide:

    • 1) Check the load shedding schedule before suggesting a time or date. Make sure that your players send you their load shedding schedules in advance, so that as the manager of the team, you can quickly determine what date and time best works.
    • 2) Work closely with your opponent to determine a working schedule.
    • 3) Make sure your reserves are online and waiting before and during your match. We recommended that each team house 3 reserves. If a player is load shed, replace the player with a reserve.
    • 4) Schedule your matches for Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of the match week. Scheduling a match for the final half of the week leaves no room for postponement.
    • 5) VS Gaming will activate special regulations at times when load shedding is especially disruptive, as a means to provide its users with as much relief as possible. When activated, these rules work hand in hand with the existing booking rules as an addition. In cases where there is a conflict between the two booking related regulations, the load shedding regulations take priority.
  • When Load Shedding Regulations are Active:

    1. Transfer locks will be disabled. You will be allowed to add players to your roster in order to bolster your line-ups resistance to load-shedding. Note: Other roster limitations still apply, such as:
      1. A player cannot play for more than one team per 7 day window.
      2. Teams may not field players who have not joined the team prior to the scheduled match time.
    2. If the match is taking place on a future date:
      1. Contact your opposition and provide them with your load shedding schedule, including the schedule for every reserve.
      2. If one of the teams will not be able to field a team, both teams need to agree to a new date that takes place before the match deadline. Ensure a screenshot of the agreement is uploaded on the match page.
      3. If no agreement can be reached, the original scheduled time is used, unless an extension card is used and approved.
        1. Each team is allocated two extension cards per leg. Extension cards can only be used if an application to use the extension card is submitted to the admins by the end of the Thursday in the match week.
        2. If an extension card is approved by the admins, the match will be moved to the following week (normally a Sunday at 20:00).
        3. The team who applies for the extension card, is the team who depletes the extension card.
        4. Teams are allowed to play 4v4, 4v5 and 5v5.
    3. If the match is taking place on the same day as the issue arises:
      1. Contact your opposition and provide them with your load shedding schedule, including the schedule for every reserve.
      2. If one of the teams will not be able to field a team, both teams need to agree to a new date that takes place before the match deadline. Ensure a screenshot of the agreement is uploaded on the match page.
      3. If no agreement can be reached, the original scheduled time is used. Teams are allowed to play 4v4, 4v5 and 5v5.
      4. Extension cards may be used if one of the teams apply and get approval to use the extension card before Thursday of the same match week.
        1. Our admin team is not always available immediately to approve extension card requests. Our team operates during normal business hours and as we are a small team of two people, we are at times not available due to other work commitments. We will try our best to approve extension requests, but we will not be held responsible if a request is not approved on the same day it is applied for. To assist in this regard, we have empowered our committee assistants. While load shedding regulations are active, our community assistants will have the authority to review and approve/decline extension card requests.
    4. Special care must be taken by both teams in regards to the teams loadshedding schedules.
      1. Book on dates where you see both teams are the least impacted, even if both teams are still impacted. Look for the better of the bad options to mitigate risk.
    5. Recruit more players and bolster your team
      1. Recruiting more players is the best way to provide your own team with relief as it provides you with more options and could mean the difference between a loss (1 point) and a forfeit (no points).
      2. While load shedding regulations are active, rosters are unlocked.
    6. Send your entire team or just those who are effected to the VS Gaming High Performance Center (located inside Maverick Gaming Center in Rivonia).
      1. The venue provides:
        1. 600/600Mbps Internet connection.
        2. A LAN with space for over 140 gamers. Bring your own equipment.
        3. Secure parking
        4. There are two sound proof booths (Booking is essential).
          1. The blue booth uses:
            1. Intel i7 6700k
            2. Geforce GTX 970
            3. 8GB DDR4 Ram
            4. 128GB SSD
            5. 144hz 24" BenQ monitors
          2. The red booth uses:
            1. ASUS GR8 II Mini Rog PC's.
            2. 144hz 24" BenQ monitors
      2. For bookings and availability, contact Maverick Gaming Center
      3. Note: Please inquire about venue closing times, and if needed, request that they close later if needed.
    7. Teams with no reserves will not be granted any postponements or extension cards.
    8. Teams with reserves, but do not make use of their reserves due to the reserves lack of availability (outside of load shedding) will not be granted a postponement.
      1. Teams must ensure that their reserves are available.
    9. When applying for a postponement, teams must provide the load shedding schedule for the effected players for validation. This includes for each of your reserves. Upload this to your match page and make it clear which image belongs to which player.
    10. VS Gaming will not postpone the postponement due to load shedding. We can only be accommodating for a short period of time. The event must go on.
    11. Cup based events (non-leagues) have critical time-frames and if a match is postponed, the match must be completed before the start of the next round to avoid delaying the other teams in the event.
    12. League based round robin events will not accept postponements beyond the final day of the leg.

Changes to the match deadlines:

  1. In an additional effort to provide relief during load shedding, VS Gaming will relax the round deadlines during the effected Leg.
  2. Week 2 & 3 will have their deadline set to 22 March 2020.
  3. Week 4 & 5 will have their deadline set to 5 April 2020.
  4. The weeks will be set to:
    1. Week 1: 02/03/2020 - 08/03/2020
    2. Week 2: 09/03/2020 - 22/03/2020
    3. Week 3: 09/03/2020 - 22/03/2020
    4. Week 4: 23/03/2020 - 05/04/2020
    5. Week 5: 23/03/2020 - 05/04/2020
  5. No results will be accepted past the final day of the leg.

Amendment of regulations - 19 February 2019:

  • Teams in the CS:GO, Dota 2 and LoL league have until the end of the leg to book and play their matches. No match played after the final day of Leg 1 will be considered valid, unless special allowance is made by an admin.
  • Matches that are not booked/played due to a lack of effort/poor-organising/bad-communication - not a result of load-shedding - will be dealt with on a case by case basis. If the admin determines that the match was not played due to a lack of effort or due to poor organization on the player or teams behalf, the team in question will be held responsible and issued with a forfeit.
